BBC Fake Britain programme

Friday, December 4, 2015 11:15 AM

You might have seen today’s Fake Britain programme, regarding the use of fake skills certification cards. SKILLcard was mentioned in the programme, and we’d like to reassure you about the steps we’ve taken to stop the use of fraudulent cards.

With our recent change to smartcards, we’ve introduced the use of smart technology to check the validity of SKILLcards. Through using a card reader or device such as a smartphone or tablet, identity and qualifications can be checked instantly, making it easier for construction sites to make sure they have the right workers for the job.

As an affiliate of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), and the first affiliated scheme to adopt smart technology, we will continue to work together to raise awareness of the uses of smart technology in checking construction skills cards before workers begin work on a site.

You can download the Go Smart apps, or software for card readers, on our downloads page.
