Construction Site Visitor Card Closure

Important update about the Construction Site Visitor Card

Please be aware that SKILLcard are now in the process of withdrawing the Construction Site Visitor Card. Please see below for the timetable of closure dates.

  • From 1st December 2020, any Construction Site Visitor cards will only be valid up to the 30th November 2022.
  • From 31st April 2022, SKILLcard will stop issuing the visitor card.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, visitor cards issued before the 1st December 2020 will remain valid until their expiry date.

Why is the card being withdrawn?

SKILLcard is a partner card scheme of CSCS and is committed, alongside all CSCS partner card schemes, to deliver to the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) 2025 vision. As a result, card schemes carrying the CSCS logo including SKILLcard, must only certify those occupations with nationally recognised construction related qualifications, i.e. NVQs or approved equivalents.

If I have a Visitor Card, how will I gain access after the closure?

Many people holding the Site Visitor SKILLcard work in occupations deemed to be non-construction related. These non-construction related occupations can be roles such as security guards or those working within catering. As SKILLcards are for construction related occupations only, this means that card holders working in non-construction related occupations will not be required to obtain another category of SKILLcard to gain access to site. The main contractor of the site will make separate provisions available for those working in non-construction related occupations.

Alternatively, if you do have a construction-related profession, we would urge site visitor card holders to visit the SKILLcard website or call the team to ascertain if the qualifications they may hold meet the requirements for the issue of a relevant SKILLcard.

Our team are still here to support you.

If you have any queries regarding their renewal please call 01768 860406 or email skillcard.info@thebesa.com
