SKILLcard working alongside CSCS to tackle fraud in the industry

Thursday, October 22, 2015 3:30 PM

You might have seen a recent report on BBC Newsnight which highlights some fraudulent activity in a small number of health and safety testing centres. As an affiliate of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), we want to reassure all SKILLcard holders that we are committed to working alongside CSCS to further eliminate fraud from our industry.

Our recent adoption of smart technology demonstrates this commitment, and smartcards already help eliminate the use of fake cards within the industry. Identity and qualifications can be checked instantly, making sure employers have the right person for the job.

CSCS is working closely with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and other partners to ensure issues raised in the programme are addressed.

SKILLcard has a robust application process and stringent validation checks. We are confident that this is not a widespread issue, and we will continue to work with CSCS to continue to tackle the issue in the future.
