In order to make it even easier for engineers with overseas qualifications to secure their SKILLcard, BESA have now signed up to partner with ECCTIS, who will provide a skills mapping service.

ECCTIS is a leading information service provider offering impartial, trusted judgement on international qualifications and SKILLcard are delighted to welcome their services. ECCTIS are the parent company who previously looked after the UK Naric brand and are now the externally facing name following Brexit.

Anyone interested in applying for a SKILLcard using overseas qualifications should go to the ECCTIS website (www.ecctis.com) to secure a ‘Statement of Comparability’. Those who already have accounts can continue to use their existing login details and there is no need re-register.

To be eligible for the skilled worker statement, you must have spent time working on a construction site as part of your qualification. ECCTIS will provide a mapping report and will ensure that the skills, competencies and qualifications of those coming to the UK to work or study are recognised at the appropriate level in the UK  This information can then be used to apply for the relevant  SKILLcard.

For the Academically Qualified Person SKILLcard the candidate’s qualifications need to be comparable to a Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s or Doctoral degree level.

The verification process should be completed within 30 working days unless further research is needed to confirm eligibility including the authenticity of the qualifications.

To start the process, go to: www.ecctis.com and to apply for a SKILLcard visit: www.skillcard.org.uk
