Which test do I need to take?

To apply for a SKILLcard you are required to pass the appropriate level of health and safety test within the last two years.

Exemptions

You may satisfy the SKILLcard H&S requirements if you have undertaken appropriate certified H&S training within the last two years. This can include any of the courses below.

Craft and Operative

Red, green, blue or gold.

One of the following tests (dependent on your occupation):

BESA Online H&SE Test HVACR Pipefitting/ welding (industrial and commercial) PFW N/A

Client Contractors National Safety Group (CCNSG) two day Safety Passport Scheme Course

CITB Supervisory Site Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course

CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course

Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely

National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)

Construction Certificate (NOT the General Certificate)

Trainees who have completed their Apprenticeship Standard inclusive of the End Point Assessment (EPA)

*Commercial Fire Sprinkler Engineers must pass the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course or the CITB Site Supervisory Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course

How do I book my test?

BOOK AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE BESA H&SE COURSE AND TEST.

The BESA Health and Safety Environment Test can be taken as part of the online course or test only.

  • Takes approximately 3 hours to complete online
  • The standalone test costs £19.50 +VAT 
  • Course and test costs £50 +VAT for SKILLcard holders who get an exclusive discounted rate using code HSE60. RPP £114 inc VAT. 
  • You will need a valid photo ID

CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test

You can book your test and find your nearest CITB test centre on their website. You’ll need to have to hand:

  • Your full name, address, date of birth and National Insurance number
  • Which test you’d like to book and booking code. 
  • The test costs £22.50 inc VAT and you can make payment over the phone by credit or debit card
